MaxJax Concrete Requirements

Build on a Solid Foundation

The performance and safety of your MaxJax portable two-post lift starts with the concrete beneath it. Before installation, verify that your garage floor meets the minimum requirements for thickness, strength, and condition. Proper concrete helps ensure stable lifting, secure anchoring, and years of reliable operation.

Why Concrete Matters

Every time you raise a vehicle, significant lifting forces are transferred through the lift columns into the concrete slab. Installing your lift on concrete that does not meet the required specifications can compromise stability, reduce performance, and increase the risk of equipment damage or personal injury.

A properly prepared concrete slab helps:

  • Provide a stable foundation for lifting

  • Ensure anchors remain securely fastened

  • Improve long-term lift performance

  • Reduce unnecessary wear on lift components

  • Promote safe vehicle lifting

Minimum Concrete Requirements

Before installing your MaxJax M7K, verify your floor meets these minimum requirements:

  • Minimum concrete thickness:

    4.25 inches (108 mm)

  • Minimum concrete compressive strength:

    3,000 PSI

  • Fully cured concrete

  • Level installation surface

  • Concrete free of cracks, deterioration, or structural defects

  • Indoor installation only

Before You Install

Inspect your installation area carefully before drilling any anchor holes.

Your concrete should be:

  • Clean and free of debris

  • Flat and level

  • Structurally sound

  • Fully cured

  • Free of large cracks or surface damage

  • Free of expansion joints beneath the lift columns

If you're unsure whether your concrete meets these requirements, consult a qualified concrete contractor or structural professional before installation.

Anchor Installation

Although MaxJax is portable, the lift must always be securely anchored whenever it is in use.

During installation:

  • Install all supplied anchors according to the installation instructions.

  • Verify every anchor is fully seated.

  • Shim and level both columns as needed.

  • Tighten all anchor bolts properly.

  • Never operate the lift with loose or damaged anchors.

Each time the lift is moved and reinstalled, inspect both the anchors and the surrounding concrete before returning the lift to service. The operation manual instructs users not to use the lift if the anchors are damaged or the concrete is cracked or defective.

Existing Garage Floors

Most residential garages are built on concrete slabs, but not every floor is suitable for lift installation.

Older slabs may have:

  • Unknown concrete thickness

  • Lower compressive strength

  • Hidden deterioration

  • Previous repairs

  • Surface cracking

If you cannot verify your slab meets the installation requirements, consider measuring the slab thickness or having the concrete professionally evaluated before installing your lift.

Reinstalling Your MaxJax

One of MaxJax's biggest advantages is portability, but every reinstallation should include a complete inspection.

Before reinstalling:

  • Inspect every drop-in anchor.

  • Clean all anchor holes.

  • Verify the concrete remains in good condition.

  • Re-level and shim both columns.

  • Bleed the hydraulic system before returning the lift to service.
